Illustrations for children’s book on the history of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The story tells the town of Hamelin was overrun by rats that destroyed everything they had at their disposal. Residents offered a great reward to those who saved the great plague. Then came a piper playing his flute and made them disappear drowned in the river. The owners of the city did not give the reward and punishment as a flutist began playing the flute, taking all the children of the city just as it did with rats.
I have given the narrative that follows a demon in history. He sends the rats in town, but nobody can do until somebody habitats desperate call for help and the devil comes dressed piper. It is an approach different from the version of the Pied Piper, where everything ends happily because children eventually returned to their home after the father assumes the lesson of greed, doubled the reward for returning the piper.
